Typical Itinerary
Drive through Jackson.
Drive through Grand Teton National Park to the South entrance of Yellowstone. If you would like to stop at the Bear & Wolf Discovery Center, we can.
Animals you will see on your tour: Bison, Elk, Coyotes and sometimes, bears.
Bear & Wolf Tours - We only do licensed wildlife tours from Grand Teton National Park and Yellowstone.
In 2009, we had 100% success rate for viewing the two more elusive animals: bears / wolves or both. Our research shows that 90% of our customers came to the Yellowstone area hoping to capture images of wolves. If this is your goal as well, then Mountain Mike’s Tours is the transportation company of choice. Our customers report being extremely satisfied, and always went home with fantastic images of nature.
Bison will cross the road in front of our vehicle, and you may see more elk in one day than many people see in a lifetime.
Book with us and find out why they call Yellowstone, “The Little Serengeti.”
You will be in 'animal heaven!' You will see wolves and bears from our safari cars. Catch the sunset over the Tetons. See the reverse migration of Elk as they migrate back to the Park. Get pictures of Bald Eagles, Moose and Bison. The Gros Ventre wolf pack is very active now.
Note: in 2010, the Madison River wolf pack was visible 50% of the season.
Food Choices:
We will bring a nice sack lunch or we can buy food at The Canyon (hot)
Prior to your tour, you will choose either a sack lunch or picnic hot lunch at The Canyon. Snacks, fruit, juices, sodas, water and coffee/hot chocolate provided throughout the day.
Binoculars:
Nikon Optics – we offer the best available. With the best binoculars, you can see the colors of the animals and the details of their surroundings. These optics will let you spot the variations in the color of a wolf, and in the color and texture of the antlers of a bull elk in the fall.
Camera:
If you don’t have a digital camera with you, you may borrow ours at no charge.
We will email the photographs to your computer.
Walking:
We stop the vehicle as many times as you want. Most of Yellowstone’s features are within 5 yards of a parking area, but many people prefer to walk about 100 yards into the experience.
You can trust your guide to create the best possible experience for your group.
Handicapped / Limited Mobility Tours available
Mike is available to push a wheelchair on the walkways around most major features.
Tour guides – We off two (2) experienced guides, with over 15 year’s experience in the Park.

Mountain Mike’s Tour Guide
Mike obtained a minor in biology from Northland College in Ashland, WI. (a leading environmental private college). He is a known wildlife manager, and shares stories about the noticeable changes in the Yellowstone and Teton National Park animal habitats.
He has lived in Wyoming for 15 years, and has hosted tours for the past 5 years.
As a tour guide, he is most proud of his ability to find wildlife. On the last tour of the 2010 season, one family saw 7 different bear groupings (black bears, color-faced black bears and grizzlies) in one 8-hour day.
One of his favorite memories includes taking a class of 5th graders to see Molly’s Pack (the Alpha pack of wolves from Yellowstone) at close range. He remembers the excitement on the faces of the children, and believes that seeing is believing.
Mountain Mike’s Tours is 100% locally owned and operated.
Telephone 208-525-5136 (If we do not answer the phone immediately, we may in the Park and out of cell phone range. We will return your call at our earliest opportunity.)
